Some statistics about why patients leave a practice. It’s amazing.
a) 1% will die.
No matter how good you are, you can do nothing about this.
b) 3% move away.
Again there is not much you can do about this but patients will travel if they trust you. I travel 30 minutes to see mine.
c) 5% form other relationships.
This happens if a doctor at your practice leaves or are recommended another doctor.
d) 14% are dissatisfied with your service.
This is where you can improve. You have the ability to control patients that leave you.
It’s also not a big number. Which generally means most are happy with the service they receive.
e) 68% of your customers will leave because there is no difference between your practice and another.
WOW. That is a massive percentage. Basically if you look, feel and operate the same as other practices there is a chance they will leave you and your practice.
f) 9% will not leave – ever!
Which if you think about it, is crazy.
Even if you think you do a lot for your patients, it’s possible that your customers do not see it that way. It’s never about you. It’s about patients.
Patients are less loyal than they used to be. This is because there is more competition. Providing good care is no longer good enough. You have to be different.
